Dirt in the Skirt 5K
Mark your calendars for September 16th at 9:00am!
Fundraising for Childhood Cancer Research
About the Race
This 5K run/walk event will put you smack in the middle of nature as you run the rows and climb the hills around our orchards. You'll be dodging through our apple rows, side-stepping through our strawberry fields & dashing along our corn rows. As you push yourself through our 3.1 mile course, you'll also be raising money & awareness for childhood cancer research. Last year, we raised nearly $3,000 for CureSearch who's funding goes directly to finding a cure for children's cancer. We're hoping to double the donated amount in 2017!
75% of all registration fees will go to support CureSearch, a childhood cancer research organization. Every day, 43 children are diagnosed with cancer. 12% do not survive. We want to do our part to change this and give our kids a chance at life!
We're going to have some fun too! We're challenging all runners to flaunt a tutu or skirt during the run! For every person that wears a tutu or skirt, Stokes Homestead Farm Market will donate an extra $1 per person to CureSearch.
There will be an after-party once you've completed the race with food & drinks!
Our 5K is not a timed, competitive event. We will have a clock running so you may gauge your time. However, we will not be using chip timing.
Flaunt Your Tutus!
Remember, if you strut your stuff in a tutu, Stokes Homestead Farm Market will donate an extra $1.00 per person to CureSearch!
New this year: Best Tutu Attire Contest!
If you're flaunting a tutu, why not go all out?! Come ready to run (or walk!) all decked out in your best tutu attire! One winner will be determined and announced at the after-party. The winner will receive 2 FREE meals & drinks inside Hazel's Kitchen, redeemable any day of the 2017 season! You must be present at the after-party to win and receive your prize! No need to register for this specific contest. If you are signed up for the 5K, you will automatically be considered!
There will be an after-party on the lawn of the farm Market directly after the race. All participants will get a free pancake brunch and drinks. Each participant will receive a ticket for brunch in their goody bag. This ticket must be presented in order to get your meal after the race. Participant families are welcome to the after-party and will need to pay an additional $3.00 fee for brunch if they wish to eat. This can be purchased when you pick up your packet the day before or the day-of the race. This is not a timed race event. Every participant will receive a goody bag & a medal!
Cost of the Race & What's Included:
$25.00 per person if purchased BEFORE June 1st!
$30.00 per person if purchased on June 1st or after! (This is a flat fee. No hidden fee or registration fee involved.)
100% of this cost will be donated to CureSearch to help find a cure for childhood cancer. Remember, if you wear a tutu or skirt, we'll donate even more!
This will include your entry into the race, a T-shirt for every runner, Goody Bag, Pancake Brunch & Drinks after the race!
